2009 Project Gallery

21 Feb 2009 Business Class Day 1 held at Melville Union Church.

On 21 Feb 2009 AWA/SA partnering with Melville Union Church presented a class in business principles to students from four of our partners.  Last year, this class enabled two individuals to start their own businesses which are still going today.  The first phase of this project complete, then on to the second phase.

28 Feb 2009 Partnering with Thembalethu Ministries and Melville Union Church, A World Aware SA helped to launch new community outreach program in Auckland Park. This addressed the needs of a large and growing homeless community. This kick off project for 2009 included several of our partners in Gauteng and Limpopo province.  Represented were Prince Ministry in South Africa; Emmanuel Homes; Zumani Lekang from Soweto; and of course African Harvest who are the champions of the tower garden project in Limpopo, and spreading.

Below are some of the pictures representing our activities to date.  They are from venues in Johannesburg, Vaalwater, and places in between.

Tower Garden MUC
Muc Helpers come in all sizes and ages.  The tower gardens built at Melville Union Church are ready for harvest now.  There are several in the community who have ordered their garden, which provides work (income) for the homeless outreach in the community.
Some of the partners having a laugh during the day.  It was hard work, but the rewards are incredible.  No project has one goal for AWA/SA.  We have multiple objectives. muc
Zumani Lekang

Zumani Lekang, operated by Christopher and Esther Kumalo is in Soweto.  They with the help of our partners have put a new roof on the creche, had the floor leveled, and new paint inside and out.  Now they will be able to go from 65 children to 116 daily.

This is a deperate need in the community.

ZL The new roof and side panel installed by Premier Skylighting.  Richard and his crews added many "Gifts" to the job to make things better for the children.
ZL Inside, the new donated skylight is adding much more light. Soon this creche will be bustling with children.
Emmanuel Homes Emmanuel Homes, run by Ivy Hammond shows a newly renovated kitchen with granite counters and wood cabinets which gives a sanitary preparation area for the more that 200 meals served through this room per week!
  We are not done yet!
